Product detailed description

The Silky Pocketboy Curve 170-8 is an improved version of the popular survival and bushcraft saw, featuring a curved blade that increases efficiency and makes it easier to cut branches above our shoulders. Version with 170mm blade length for fresh wood.

Professional hand saws japanese brands The silks were created on the basis ofcenturies-old traditions production of reliable cutting tools and modern technologies. Thanks to this combination, Silky tools achieve high durability and sharpness, resulting in high cutting efficiency.

Silky Pocketboy is a range of compact travel sawswith lightweight and practical design, which was a great success with us thanks to its performance andversatile use. The Pocketboy saw will be especially appreciated by survivalists, bushcraft enthusiasts, hunters and watermen.

The Pocketboy Curve 170-8 saw blade is precision laser cut from high carbon steel with high flexibility and resistance to dulling. Compared to straight saw blades, the new saw blade's gentle curved profile speeds up cutting and increases productivity by up to 15-20%. The slightly oval shape prevents the saw from falling out of the cut and makes it easier to cut branches above our shoulders.

The surface of the blade is chrome plated, which protects it from corrosion, the harmful effects of tree sap and weathering. Silky saws feature an advanced tooth design and back-to-back cutting technique for maximum comfort and minimum energy consumption.

The sharp teeth are ground in up to four planes for increased efficiency. Importantly, only the edges of the teeth are subjected to induction hardening, leaving the rest of the blade soft and flexible, protecting the saw from breakage during operation or misuse. The cutting part is hourglass shaped, which prevents the blade from jamming during cutting, as is the case with most saws on the market.

This pronounced tooth profile also maximises cutting resistance and the wood surface is exceptionally smooth after cutting.

The Pocketboy Curve 170-8 handsaw is equipped with a 180 mm long blade of medium type, i.e. 8 teeth per 30 mm blade length. Such a blade is best suited for cutting freshly turned wood up to 85 mm thick.

The saw is folded so that the aggressive teeth are safely hidden inside the handle. The locking mechanism allows the saw blade to be locked in two different positions depending on the situation and working conditions. The Pocketboy model uses a polypropylene handle that guarantees a high grip regardless of weather conditions. It comes with a handy lockable case made of transparent plastic that protects the tool when transported in a backpack or tool case.

The Silky Pocketboy Curve 170-8 is a pocket saw that is sure to appeal to survivalists, bushcraft enthusiasts, hunters and those looking for a powerful tool for the garden or home workshop.

The Silky Pocketboy Curve saws have interchangeable blades that are available separately.

Chromed surface

The chrome plating makes the blade surface extremely hard and durable, while reducing friction and extending the life of the blade. In addition, chrome plating protects the blade from rust and resin. Silky polishes the blade to a silky smooth finish before applying the chrome plating. This allows the blade to encounter even less resistance from the wood when cutting.

Electro-pulse hardening

The tips of the teeth are heated to a very high temperature for a fraction of a second. Because only the tip (or in other words, the cutting part) of the tooth is heated, the rest of the tooth retains not only its cutting quality but also its flexibility. Induction-hardened teeth have three times longer life than untreated teeth. They cannot be ground and you can tell by the black tips of the teeth.

Mirai-Me teeth

The razor-sharp teeth are precisely ground into the blade, each with 3 blades, resulting in an extremely smooth surface. For optimum sawdust removal, each back tooth (depending on the saw model) is ground outwards. This unrivalled patented MIRAI-ME technology allows the saw to be used for 3 types of cutting: cross-cutting (perpendicular to the grain direction), rip-cutting (parallel to the grain direction) and mitre-cutting. For pruning work, the smooth saw cut allows the tree wound to be easily regrown. In joinery, the smooth saw cut provides an excellent finish so that no sanding is required.

Misaligned teeth

The teeth are precisely ground into the blade, each with 4 cutting surfaces. The teeth are "unfolded" so that the cutting surface cuts directly into the wood, destroying approximately 50% fewer wood cells. The blades are ground in two circles: the lower part of the blade (near the teeth) is the thickest, the upper part is slightly thinner and the blade in the middle is the thinnest. This design has several advantages: it has less energy consumption for cutting, effortlessly removes sawdust (it does not get stuck in the wood), very clean cut - no breaking or tearing of the wood, produces a very precise and smooth cut.

Rubber handle GOM

The GOM rubber handle absorbs vibrations when cutting and ensures excellent grip even when wet or wearing gloves. In addition, this handle always keeps you pleasantly warm, even in extremely low temperatures.

Silk technology

The blades are made of Japanese Authentic Premium steel and are laser cut. The blades are of unrivalled quality: they are very hard and durable, but at the same time remain flexible thanks to the soft metal core. Hard and wear-resistant - the chemical composition of the metal combined with a unique heating and cooling process determines the high hardness of the metal. The high carbon content leads to high wear resistance, so sharpness is maintained for a very long time. Soft and flexible - By forging the saw in this way, the saw tooth core is composed of soft metal, so the saw remains flexible and grips the wood easily.
